Penn State is on a big-time roll in its 2016 recruiting class with four new commitments in a span of six days. Punter Blake Gillkin and defensive tackles Christian Colon, Michael Dwumfour and Ellison Jordan all gave their verbal pledges this week, bringing the class total to 14.
While Colon and Jordan committed late in the week — and after the podcast in this post was recorded — Gillikin and Dwumfour got the ball rolling with commitments Sunday and Tuesday, respectively. In particular, Dwumfour’s pledge proved to be just the first domino to fall and perhaps pushed earlier commitments from Colon and Jordan with the potential for slots to fill in Penn State’s class.
The program also made a big move this week with the announcement that longtime NFL head coach and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett would be joining the program as a consultant. That could mean many things as a sounding board and advisor for the Nittany Lions’ coaching staff, but it could prove to be something bigger in the future, according to PennLive’s Bob Flounders.
Flounders joined Dustin Hockensmith and Scott Shirley on the Keystone Sports Network to break down Dwumfour and Gillikin, the impact Haslett can make and more in a segment for the Keystone Kickoff Show.
