Penn State hits the road for its biggest test of the season with a Saturday visit to No. 1 Ohio State. The Nittany Lions are 5-1 and riding high despite a rash of recent injuries that could be clearing up this weekend. Right tackle Andrew Nelson and safety Marcus Allen are back, but the status of Angelo Mangiro and freshman sensation Saquon Barkley is still up in the air.
A full-strength Penn State team can take confidence in last year’s showing against the high-powered Buckeyes. The presence of Barkley, who is averaging a robust 8.9 yards per carry this season, could go a long way toward helping the Nittany Lions spring an upset. He’s questionable with a lower leg injury but could still return to bolster an offense that got into a passing rhythm last weekend in a 29-7 home win over Indiana.
