Penn State’s offensive line surrendered 10 sacks and contributed to a sputtering second-half offense in a 27-10 road loss to Temple last weekend. The unit had many of the same problems that plagued it last season, and coaches and linemen cited communication issues for their breakdowns against the Owls. And there were many as the Nittany Lions managed just 52 yards and zero points in the final 51 minutes of the game.
Leading up to the Buffalo game, coach James Franklin mentioned the possibility of reshuffling his line in an effort to find a better combination. That could mean bench time for left tackle Paris Palmer and/or possible position changes for Andrew Nelson and Angelo Mangiro. It’s an early sign of desperation to find answers for the same long-standing question.
Bob Flounders, Andrew P. Shay and Dustin Hockensmith talked about the unit and what changes they expect against Buffalo in a segment for the Keystone Kickoff Show.
