Penn State is getting a player with a massive frame and high upside in Great Valley defensive end Ryan Buchholz, a 6-6, 255-pound prospect who checked in at No. 129 in 247 Sports’ national player rankings. Buchholz is a key figure along a defensive line that could be faced with a rebuilding project when star tackles Austin Johnson and Anthony Zettel both take their shot at the NFL.
The depth chart is questionable on the surface behind Johnson and Zettel, but a pair of 2015 defensive end recruits in Kamonte Carter and Buchholz are candidates to move inside and fill any voids. That transition plan is all but certain for Buchholz, whose family genealogy could force him inside, whether he chooses or not.
Buchholz joined Ross Tucker and Dustin Hockensmith on the Keystone Sports Network this week to talk about his final preparations and his goals for his debut season.
