The Penn State football program withstood its third early defection of the offseason this week when defensive end Deion Barnes and tight end Jesse James both announced their intention to declare for the 2015 NFL draft. Add Barnes and James to Donovan Smith, and James Franklin has seen three players leave eligibility on the table and bolt early.
In addition to the NFL draft candidates, Penn State is also in danger of losing defensive coordinator Bob Shoop to potential interest in the same position at LSU. On the recruiting front, Penn State is scrambling to add its first defensive tackle in its 2015 recruiting class after the news that four-star target Christian Wilkins committed to Clemson.
Dustin Hockensmith and Bob Flounders broke down those issues and more in this week’s Keystone Sports Network podcast. Check out audio from the show in this post and get plenty more podcasts and analysis on KeystoneSportsNetwork.com and by following @KSNSportsNet on Twitter.
