The fantasy football season has ended in most league formats, but a handful remain competitive entering Week 17 of the NFL season. Season finales tend to bring with them unpredictable results and individual surprises that can, and do, make unfortunate impacts on meaningful matchups in fantasy.
“Week 17 never makes any sense,” former NFL fullback Jon Ritchie concluded. “It is an uncontrollable whirlwind of a week, and I just don’t feel good about handicapping any of these matchups in a Week 17. For whatever reason, it is bizarro week in the NFL, and teams will always surprise you. Players will always overperform, underperform. It’s never status quo. It’s never expected.”
Ritchie, Bob Flounders and Dustin Hockensmith talked about the idea of 17-week leagues and highlighted a handful of players who could make an impact in their regular-season finales in this week’s Keystone Sports Network podcast.
